School to Business Connection
nConnect links schools with businesses and professionals through a self-serve database and by partnering closely with schools to build customized progams that their unique needs.
Self-Serve Volunteer Database
BizConnect brings together industry and education to address the workforce development needs of communities while helping students achieve their career goals. This self-serve database links professionals from science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) industries with educators and students to provide career related learning experiences (CRLEs). Examples of CRLEs include mock interviews, job shadows, guest speakers, company tours, and virtual career coaching.
How it works
nConnect recruits and screens local companies and volunteers to participate in BizConnect. A student or teacher can search for a particular area of interest and see if there is a professional volunteer or organization willing to offer a CRLE or answer questions. The interaction is done on the professional's own time and there is no on-going commitment or minimum hour requirement. It is one of the easiest ways to get involved with youth, even with a busy professional schedule.
BizConnect is currently based in 11 local high schools: Evergreen, Heritage, Columbia River, Fort Vancouver, Hudson's Bay, Camas, Clark County Skills Center, R.A. Long, Mark Morris, Kelso, and Castle Rock.
More than 100 businesses and 120 volunteers are active in the BizConnect database offering over 150 CRLEs. To date, more than 300 students have participated in a BizConnect CRLE.
