Career Related Learning Experiences
nConnect provides a variety of Career Related Learning Experiences (CRLEs, pronounced “Curly’s”) to students in middle and high schools. These CRLEs are carried out in collaboration with teachers, career counselors and magnet coordinators and are based on a service contract that nConnect has with the local school district.
CRLEs include individual experiences like informational interviews or job shadows occurring at worksites, as well as group activities at schools where community professionals visit and share career information in nConnect-arranged activities like “speed networking”, guest speaking, and mock interviewing. Other types of CRLEs include advisors for school projects as well as class tours of local businesses.
During the 2011-12 school year, 100 volunteers from 70 organizations participated in nConnect organized CRLEs. More than 1,000 students learned about potential careers via personal interaction with professionals in the field.
